**Called Uber, could not get through the traffic, 20 minutes later, driver cancelled the booking.
-- BUT, on our return trip from NY back to Newark NJ, the card reads $0.00 balance!!! It is $2.75 (*4) one way to WTC!! -- Mechanical problem??? Homeless swiped the card??? Very frustrated!!
This station is very chaotic, poorly organized and insecure!!!
1. Got ripped off at this station first day of our family vacation on October 18, 2017 around 2-3 pm!
not sure why NJ Transit can work on this problem. i can't go there with my kids, it's a horrible sight to see.
a cesspool of addicts, hustlers and bums.. sleeping, harassing people on shop line, eating and stinking up the place. the restrooms are actually dangerous. homeless just lay around, open wounds and hospital garments.
-- Had to reload the card (added another $40.00) to get through the gate!
**The next day, the service woman at the first ticket window (left) was rude and indifferent.
Frustrating and insecure Incident:
Worst train station EVER!! Why is there nothing that tells you where things are or where they are going? Worst part is they don't have accessible ticket booths or show you where to go. If only there was an attendant somewhere, oh wait they are government workers in New Jersey so they don't care anyway. If you need to know where to go, look it up well before you get there. Good luck!
As a railfan, I love this station a lot. I was born and raised in new Jersey, and we moved to a diffenr state what don't have trains, and I rally miss this place. I don't care what anybody else says, this place is full of memories.
-- $50 cost one way to NY, could have simply called a Cab!!!
**Terribly stagnant traffic front of the Station for hotel pick up between 6-11 pm, every day!!
-- Finally, four of us (including two 80 year old seniors) got in one by one after multiple frustrating 'fail and try'.... and got our 'card' back!
You have to be careful hete lots of people asking for cash there is a police presence but still have to watch your luggage and laptops
-- Feeling insecure, I tried to get the card back but the tall, black homeless (must have lived in the Station and was very familiar to get around), quickly grabbed the card every time the machine spitted it out! -- Wish there were Officers or any service personnel nearby! But none!!
3. Police officers were on site but mostly talking to each other on the main floor...
2. We booked a week stay in a hotel in NJ, planning to commute to NY daily...
**Police officers should spread out and constantly tour every area!
-- At Platform 1 (Path to World Trade Center, NY), card refused to work. Two homeless people standing by jumped right in, grabbed the card when the machine spitted it out and very "eagerly" to "help"...
**Be careful, careful of homeless nearby! Entrance machines might have been messed up!
2. Homeless all over the Penn NJ station...
-- We loaded $40 (credit card charge) to a Metrocard of $10 making a total of $50.00!
